Lift Force From Glide Angle Calculator

Lift is the aerodynamic force that acts perpendicular to the relative motion between the body and fluid through which it moves. The lift force is generated primarily by the wings as they interact with the air. Lift opposes the force of gravity (weight), allowing the aircraft to overcome gravitational forces and achieve and maintain flight. A higher glide angle results in a steeper descent, reducing the vertical lift component and increasing the forward speed of the aircraft. The formula to Calculate Lift Force as follows:

Where:

  • represents the lift force in N.
  • represents the drag force in N.
  • is the glide angle in radian.
