Stagnation pressure Calculator

Stagnation pressure () is a thermodynamic property of a fluid flow representing the total pressure at a point where the fluid velocity is reduced to zero (stagnation point). It accounts for both static pressure and dynamic pressure present in the fluid flow. Stagnation pressure is the total pressure of a fluid at a stagnation point, where the fluid comes to rest due to an increase in static pressure and a decrease in kinetic energy. The SI unit of stagnation pressure () is the Pascal (Pa) or Newton per square meter (N/m²). Stagnation pressure can be calculated using,

Where:

  • is the stagnation pressure,
  • is the static pressure of the fluid,
  • is the density of the fluid,
  • is the velocity of the fluid at the stagnation point.
