Mach Number behind the wave Calculator

The Mach number behind a wave refers to the Mach number of a fluid or object at a specific point in a fluid flow immediately downstream (behind) of a shock wave. A shock wave is a type of propagating disturbance that occurs when a fluid (or gas) encounters a sudden change in its properties, such as pressure, temperature, or density.
  • Mach number behind the wave (M2)
  • Wedge angle (θ) in radians
  • Oblique shock wave angle (β) in radians
  • Normal component of downstream Mach Number (Mn,2)
