In aerodynamics, the tangential force (also known as axial force or drag force) is one of the fundamental aerodynamic forces acting on an object moving through a fluid, such as air. It is perpendicular to the lift force and acts parallel to the direction of the freestream flow.
- T is the tangential or axial force
- 0.13 is the Smeaton’s coefficient
- θ is the tangential force coefficient
- F is the Planform Area
- V is the freestream velocity
